Swamiye Sharanam Ayyappa!!!

History

A group of devotees started bhajans and special Pooja period in “C” Type Quarters. In 1964, H.H. Swami Vidyadharanandaji laid foundation stone for a temple on the hill top and people started Bhajans and Pooja there by placing photo of Lord Ayyappa. Thereafter, a Sanctum Sanctorum was constructed. An idol of Lord Ayyappa was consecrated at the Holy Hands of H.H. Swami Abhedanandaji Maharaj of Abhedashram, Trivandrum in the Holy presence of H.H. Swami Chinmayanadaji Maharaj of world famous Chinmaya Mission in the Sanctum Sanctourm on the sacred day of Makar Sankranti on 14th January 1977. Since then, the Divine fragrance of spiritual blessings has been radiating in abundance from this temple to the world at large. To accommodate increasing number of devotees, a bhajan hall was constructed.

As the temple was not designed strictly as per the temple architecture and the accessories were added purely with a need based approach, we started experiencing obstacles in development efforts. A need was felt, therefore, to perceive the situation through an astrological process. As per the astrological process the astrological revelation, Brahymashree Kuzhikkattilathil Akhiraman Kalidasa Bhattathirippad of Thiruvalla was approached to become the Tantri of the temple. As directed through the Astrological inquiry, famous temple architect, Sri Kanippayur Kuttan Namboothiripad was approached to re-design the temple so as to make it in line with Taachu Sastram.

In accordance with the Deva prashnam (Astologicaol investigation) a massive cleansing ritual, culminating in an Ashtabandha Maha Kalasabhisekam was performed between 8th and 15th of September 1996 by the Tantri. Thereafter, the entire temple complex was modified under the guidance of our temple architect. The complex currently consist of a compound wall, Gaja Veedhi, Anakkottil with Dhwaja Pratishta, Valiambalam, Chuttambalam, Upadevatha temples of Lord Ganapathi and Lord Karthikeya, a Naga Peedom, a new shring for Lord Ayyappa with an idol in Panchaloha re-consecrated therein, a new shrine of Goddess Durga Mata, a Yogeeshwara Peeda Prathishta.

The Eighteeen Holy Steps at East nada have been sanctified on 7th January 2006. A large number of devotees ascended the holy eigheen steps after the sanctification in last two years. Presently, these Holy steps are kept open for devotees only during special occasions. These Gopurams (edifies) at East and West entrances of the temple have also sanctified. Pradakshina Vazhi is recently completed. Now the temple has now qualified to a “Mahakshetra” Kannimoola Ganapathy temple construction work is in progress as per the design of Shre Kannippayyur Kuttan Namboothiripad at West side, which is expected to open for the devotees during this festival season.

Our future development plan includes construction of temples for Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva, approach road from east, Annadanam Hall, Vilakkumadam, Meditation Hall, Administrative blocks, and social welfare center, etc., We also plan to start a School and a medical center.

While the astrological findings have revealed that our dream would come true shortly, it is the duty of all Devotees in this area to become a part of this project by extending their helping hands in whatever form, according to their individual capacity, and be recipients of the blessings of the Lord for themselves as well as for their family.
